Job Description: Power Plant Environmental Compliance Auditor
Position Summary:
The Power Plant Environmental Compliance Auditor is responsible for ensuring the power plant's adherence to all applicable environmental laws, regulations, and standards. This role involves conducting regular audits, inspections, and assessments to identify and address potential environmental risks and non-compliance issues. The Power Plant Environmental Compliance Auditor will work closely with various departments to develop and implement effective environmental management systems and recommend corrective actions to maintain compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive and detailed audits of power plant operations, processes, and activities to evaluate compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.
2. Review and assess environmental permits, licenses, and plans to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
3. Identify and evaluate potential environmental risks and hazards associated with power plant operations, and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
4. Develop and implement auditing protocols, checklists, and procedures to facilitate efficient and effective compliance audits.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain environmental management systems, policies, and procedures.
6. Monitor and track key environmental performance indicators to identify trends and assess the effectiveness of environmental compliance programs.
7. Provide guidance and support to operations and maintenance teams regarding environmental compliance requirements.
8. Investigate incidents of non-compliance, environmental complaints, and other environmental incidents, and recommend corrective actions.
9. Stay abreast of new and evolving environmental regulations, guidelines, and best practices to ensure continuous compliance.
10. Prepare accurate and timely reports summarizing audit findings, non-compliance issues, and recommended corrective actions.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
2. In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations applicable to power plant operations.
3. Proven experience in conducting environmental compliance audits within the energy or utilities industry.
4. Strong understanding of environmental management systems, policies, and procedures.
5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify potential environmental risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
6. Ability to interpret and analyze complex technical data, permits, and environmental plans.
7. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in documenting audit findings and preparing reports.
8. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate compliance requirements and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
9. Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and build effective working relationships.
10. Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
11. Proficient in using computer applications and software for data analysis and reporting.
